Prof. Shanon Patel
Shanon divides his time between specialist practice and at teaching at King’s College London Dental Institute. His main research interests are CBCT, root resorption and treatment outcomes. He has supervised 70+ Masters and PhD students. As a clinical academic he is known for his high impacy clinical research. Shanon’s background as a clinical academic has resulted in him publishing over 120 papers. He is recognized internationally as a leading authority on 3D (CBCT) imaging and root resorption and was lead author of 5 European Society of Endodontology position statements (CBCT 2014, 2019 and External Cervical Resorption 2018, Root resorption 2023, Cracked teeth 2025). Shanon has been a keynote speaker at over 175 international meetings spanning 5 continents and has co-authored 6 textbooks which have been translated into 5 different languages.

Abstract:
The prevalence of External Cervical resorption (ECR) is increasing due to increased awareness. However, the management of ECR can be challenging. This presentation will summarise cutting edge clinical research on treatment options of ECR.
The aim of this presentation is to give an update on management strategies of ECR.
